Taylor Lord Photography shot a beautiful Houston wedding that featured all of the glitz of the holidays. Their wedding had touches of gold in every corner, a fabulous mink coat, peppermint hot chocolate guest favors, and a fake snow exit that made for excellent photographs!

My first thought when I saw Elle Macpherson step onto the red carpet at the Golden Globes was how effortlessly ethereal she looked. Would that dress not make the most beautiful bridal gown? And throw on some big gold earrings, and colorful bangles for a fun reception look. Her hair was beautiful, and a light veil would look gorgeous pinned into the crown. Wearing a gorgeous Zac Posen gown and jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz, the supermodel looked better than anyone else on the red carpet!

This deliciously southern reception was held in an old cotton warehouse. With a strict budget, the bride focused on a DIY look that she accomplished through antique malls and flea markets. Instead of the traditional, large bridal cake, the bride chose multiple small cakes. This is great for a tight budget! They also had coke floats and Krispy Kreme donuts- is your mouth savoring or what? This wedding comes from Southern Weddings!

This mini-tree branch can create a huge impression at your reception. It is a cost friendly way to make your guests say “wow!” It can be used with candles, tea lights, flowers, lights, etc. Really, anything you can think of! Just ask your florist for manzanita branches. One of the best parts is that you can spray paint the branches to match your color scheme. Keep them in storage for future parties and events and just change the color, and accessories!

Our shoot took place in a beautiful, historic private residence located in Westlake Texas.  This 1937 residence was preserved from the original structure created by architect Charles Dilbeck. The design concept of the shoot was that of a vintage yet glamorous approach to taxidermy. “I wanted a woodsy feeling but with ideas that an actual bride could re-create.” Florals by Nest Floral were weaved with natural elements like cotton, wheat, acorns and pheasant feathers. Our treat setup by Colleens Cakes included fall inspired colors and flavors such as mini pecan and pumpkin pies, a spice bundt cake, carrot cupcakes and caramel apples adorned with natural branches in lieu of sticks. The fine attention to details is what makes this shoot so intricate. From wooden pistols to turtle shells and antlers, you can look at the images over and over still capturing more with each observation. Our bride wore an oatmeal Watters gown found at the Bridal Boutique in Lewisville Texas. Her headpieces were those provided by Serephine and jewelry by Stella & Dot. Our groom sported suspenders and a vintage bowtie found at The Dolly Python in Dallas. Perez Photography was a perfect match, creating a dreamy look through lens for our couple. Look closely to see our moonshine station, cornbread display and tablescape design. Every little details was thought out down to the deer silhouettes as place cards or the invitation suite on wood printed by Pulp Letterpress. Rent my Dust Vintage provided fabulous vintage pieces such as the old iron and board, dolies, furs, and so much more. – From The Nest, Floral Studio

This beautiful tent reception comes from Southern Weddings. Alex and Paul married in May with natural elements and bright flowers. I love how fresh and spring everything looks! The large white tent was casual during the sunlight, and became so romantic after sunset. Alex brought her feminine side out with those pink napkins- I think they are the perfect soft color to balance out the bright flowers and southern sunshine.

Photographer: Don Mears Photography // Planner: Courtney Spencer // Ceremony venue: St. Bridgets Catholic Church // Reception venue: Maymont // Florist: Flower Girls // Wedding Cake Baker: Sweetest Thing Bakery // Caterer: A Pimento // Rentals: Tent from Skyline // Linens: La Tavola, napkin rentals from Classic Party Rentals of Virginia, other rentals from Beehive Events and Festive Fare // Bride’s Dress: Matthew Christopher // Bride’s Shoes: Kate Spade // Paper: Reception calligraphy by Ginny Rogan // Makeup: Stephanie Parker

Lindsay and Ryan got hitched at the Robert Carr Chapel and celebrated with their guests at Colonial Country Club. Lindsay’s hair and makeup was done by Angie Williams, and she dressed her closest friends in short black dresses by Melissa Sweet of Priscilla of Boston. The Cake Guys made the beautiful five-tiered cake that was topped off with flowers and a silk bow! As a parting gift, the happy couple gave away adorable customized coozies and drove away in a Rolls Royce provided by Imperial Limousine.
