For me, a crisp icy blue is the color of January. I’m not too sure why- maybe it is the tint of snowflakes and icy drizzles. Or maybe it is a breath of fresh air from the heaviness of Christmas’ red and green. Either way, I think a January wedding would be beautiful in the color palette of blue and silver. Here are some ways to create this wedding. All images from Pinterest.
This beautiful wedding of course comes from Style Me Pretty. Obviously effortlessly beautiful, photographers Dove + Sparrow captured the soft romance perfectly. The softness of the dress is dramatized with a black bow tied around her waist, and draped behind her. With a loose up-do and red lips, she doesn’t need any jewelry. I am loving the casual glamour of the low-hell Christian Louboutins. Normally, you only see sleek stilletos but these match her gorgeous setting- a rooftop! How much do you love the impromptu band? Everything about this is gorgeous. The best part is that you could take this wedding from an urban rooftop to the family ranch with just a few tweaks.
Molly and Ben were married the week before Christmas 2010. Can you imagine anything more romantic and joyful? Photographed by Meredith Perdue, the couple is absolutely radiating. After a traditional Christian ceremony (including communion!), the Bride and Groom invited everyone back to the oldest surviving early twentieth-century fair exhibition hall in North Carolina. Isn’t it beautiful? To keep with the Christmas theme, they served hot ginger toddies and an almond pound cake. This is the perfect wedding to set off the Christmas spirit with poinsettas, christmas trees, and candlelight!
Britney Spears got engaged over the weekend to former agent Jason Trawick! Known as the man who pulled her out of the darkness- I don’t think Britney has ever looked this happy. Trawick proposed with a custom ring designed by jeweler-to-the-stars Neil Lane. In an interview with People magazine, Lane said “Jason didn’t want an over-the-top ring with a giant stone.” Instead, Lane went with a beautifully designed round diamond surrounded by 90 diamonds. It was designed to look like a crown, for America’s princess!
This wedding in Beaver Creek, CO is absolutely breathtaking. By drawing from the natural beauty of the scenery, the bride created a rustic and traditional look. I don’t think she could have chosen a more perfect gown. The lace caplet is the perfect amount of coverage for an outdoor wedding. Many of these elements could be used in a winter wedding in Texas- the pinecones, the dress, the birch centerpieces, the birch cross in the ceremony adorned with a gorgeous wreath. And, I can for sure see those cowhide barstools fitting in perfectly in the Lone Star State!
An engagement shoot with a theme can be fun, romantic, quirky, and just the sort of thing to lure you out of your element. For many of us {including myself} posing in front of the camera does not come naturally. I just want to smile- or hide my face! Finding a theme- like Mad Men- can help you find your confidence. It can come easier to play a part, instead of playing yourself. This 1960s shoot was photographed by Ryan Brenzier and featured on the Merci New York blog.
